Golden Tornado Softball {Team}

GO NADO! If you're a follower of my photography, you might notice I've been a bit absent for the last several months.  Here's why!  I am the head coach of the Golden Tornado softball team at Field Kindley High School in Coffeyville, Kansas. I had planned to take our team photos last year and never got the time, but I was so excited to do it this year and I think they turned out great.  Here's my favorite:

I want to show off these pictures, but what better place to show off my athletes as well!?  Coffeyville is my hometown and I played for this team all through high school.  When I took the program over last year, I inherited a team who was winless for at least four straight years, totaling somewhere around 80 consecutive losses. Other than successfully raising my children, I have no bigger goal than to better this program; well, not just better it, but completely rewrite its history. Slowly, but surely, we are on our way! Last year, we added another 17 losses to the tally.  This year, however, we got four wins!  After five seasons with zero wins, we got four in a single season (and that number should've been double that)! I do think I'm doing a nice job coaching, but as much as I wish I was still playing, it isn't me out there doing the work. My athletes are gritty, coachable, hard-working, aggressive, strategic, determined, and positive. They're just young, which means the best is yet to come.

Check these stats out:
*Team batting average improved from .111 last year to .344 this year.
*All returning players increased batting averages by at least .100 - some by over .300.
*One player hit .545, two hit over .400 and four hit over .350.
*Over 100 more runs scored this year.
*Increases in every hitting category.
*Pitchers halved their ratio of walks to strikeouts.
*Committed fewer defensive and baserunning errors.
*Opposing teams scored fewer runs.

Okay, okay, now for the pictures!
LOVE my catcher shots!

Individuals - we did some regular and most girls wanted to try some backlit shots.  Love how they turned out!

Jake {Baby} - Coffeyville, KS

Baby Jake is my first ever Baby Monthly client - other than my own daughter anyway! The Baby Monthly special is a steal and a great keepsake of baby's first year.  Check out more information here.

These are some of Jake's newborn/1 month (he spent his newborn days in the NICU so mom didn't get a chance for photos) and 2 month photos. Jake's mom is another old teammate of mine.  Love it when those people bring me their babies!

Family shot!

Kellan {newborn} - Onaga, KS

Welcome to the world, baby Kellan!  This adorable little guy just happens to be my nephew.  We loaded up the car and made the 4-hour trek to see him.  He was so squishy and cuddly and perfectly happy...until I started taking his picture! He got to sport lots of new props and we managed to keep him happy enough to snap some adorable photos for his momma. Check him out!

Knotted knit sleep cap from Ga & Gou

I was so happy to get to use this cradle! My talented grammy made it for me as a doll toy when I was little.

Love those faces!

Love this hat & bowtie from all3suns ! How dapper.

Got his pretty momma in for a few shots!
